Cat and Mouse

Earlier in the week, I picked up a copy of Cat and Mouse at Myopic Books as a souvenir of this trip. Myopic is a sort of Chicago anchor; I regret not taking advantage of it more when I lived here. Doubt it will be around the next time I come back, bookstores failing like banks. I spent most the last few days reading the book. It’s no Tin Drum, that’s for sure. But I do like that it was bite sized: appropriate for the length of this trip; I’ll have finished it tomorrow. The copy is an old, dusty Signet edition. “Should become a minor classic,” reads one of the blurbs on the front cover. High praise indeed. I’ll stick it on my shelf and thumb through it and its residues in time.
